absent stroll

November 28th, 2006 r. d. No comments

had a lovely day so far.. went in to teach my third (final) lesson and I think the phrase “crashed and burned” is a mild description of how it went.. i honestly think I was asleep for half of it (as i am now).

anyway — just an update, horribly behind on my schedule, and the “not sleeping” has already begun.

**END COMMUNICATION**

I live for stress, apparently…

Looks like an overbooked month for me. I kind of saw it coming, but not of the magnitude that I am now starting to realize. I have a rather impressive mountain of academic nonsense to get through (internship wrapup, papers, exams, projects.. disturbing considering I’m only taking 12 credits!), then add in my obligations as father and husband, and then I decided “Why not?!” and added in a time-sucking work committment (but, it makes the bank account look pretty)

This is all topped off by the fact that I am essentially removing myself from society in 27 days to a place where cell phones don’t work and life moves very slow (can’t wait!!!!) for almost 3 weeks!

I’d expect some serious posting from me in the next month as I tend to write and create alot more when I have less time to do it. I remember writing and recording what I consider my two best songs in one night when I should have been studying for an EE exam. I passed the exam, but I’m much happier with the music than the grade :)

I hope to continue posting to One Deep Breath while I struggle through this chaos for the next month. See you on the other side!

First tries at restoring old photos

November 19th, 2006 r. d. No comments

Over the last few months my wife and I have been assembling a multitude of old family photos (some dating back to the 50s, still on a quest for ones from the 30s and 20s). This is my first attempt at trying to restore some color to a somewhat faded picture of my dad from what I am guessing is the late 50s early 60s. I’ll put up the original for comparison :)

I’ve found my spot

November 17th, 2006 r. d. No comments

Flipping through the channels today to find something “semi” interesting to watch.. ran across the ESPN’s and stopped by the friday tailgate game (obviously Mich v. OSU this week!), but when I checked what was next… well.. just look.

I don’t even have to get up until after Schwab… ahhh nice.

I’m attenting the UNC Greensboro Regional Undergraduate Mathematics Conference today, and am the defacto photographer for the day. I will post pictures (from the digital cam, of course) of the participants and other *action* as I unload the pics onto my laptop. Stay tuned throughout the day and into the evening.

Living in the Future

November 8th, 2006 r. d. No comments

I can’t even explain how this happened, but I apparently am living one week ahead of where now is. From little things like “oh, I thought that was this week” to larger things like “damn that’s due tomorro.. i mean a week from tomorrow?” It happened in spectacular fashion this morning when I had to call out sick from my internship and was worried as I had a rather serious obligation coming up tomorrow… i mean, a week from tomorrow. I was semi-relieved.

Blame the calendar I guess.. I think Thanksgiving is much earlier this year than it has been in the past.. I’d believe that, or that I am slowly losing it.

To cheer up your day, here is one of my favorite TV clips of all time.

Every day my son somehow impresses me with his curiosity, his energy, and his calm. These haikus are all about him.

yet calm as a pond

summer brought you here
autumn delivered your smile
winter brings your laugh
