We only pay for basic cable at our house, which is somewhat nice. Our *highest* channel is only 22 (there are 18 or 19 channels in there somewhere). At any rate, this Patriots vs. Giants game is getting mad press and mad tv coverage. Of those 18 or 19 channels, SIX of them are showing the exact same programming.
Boston Stations:
- WCVB (ABC)
- WBZ-TV (CBS)
- WHDH (NBC)
NH/VT/NY Stations:
- Manchester: WMUR (ABC)
- Hanover, NH/Hartford, VT: WNNE (NBC) + Burlington/Plattsburg/Montreal: WPTZ (we only receive WNNE, but they are the same station)
- Burlington/Plattsburg/Montreal: WCAX (CBS)
Ahh the joys of being about half way between two television markets..

Got an e-mail late last night letting me know that the weird “slowness” on the server was corrected… and it truly is night and day. I’ve noticed across the board speed/response improvements and thus, a blog that runs smoothly.
That’s it..hope everyone enjoyed their boxing day!

…break it some more. I guess I “could” spend countless hours trying to fix all the weird anomalies that have crept into this blog over the last year or two (most notably all my youtube vids are not loading anymore — probably because the plugin ain’t there!). I’ve been tooling around with FCKeditor a bit and like what it can do for me (the wp editor is OK, but not much to write home about), and with my recent renewed interest in making php my bitch, I’ve started the foundation (yet again) for a simplistic blogging system for myself. I figure this is a three-times-a-year deal with me, and I imagine this little bit of “drive for more” will fade with the sunset (cloudy today, so I should have at least one more day to feel “driven”).
Off the top of my head, I will be using Pear’s MDB2 (mysql), Smarty, phpass, and fckeditor. More to come on that soon.. also toying with the thought of being all OSS and listing it on sourceforge.. but that’s a ways off. Until I ditch Windows XP, I’ll just consider it a personal project… (why are these related? I may write about this later too).

I’m having to adjust to the “what constitutes a snow day” mentality for schools in the north. I lived in Virginia and North Carolina for so long that the threat of snow was enough to delay school a day in advance. Nevermind if an inch fell to the ground… holy crap that would be a week off (exaggeration, but you get the point). So today is the fourth delay or closing related to snow this month. We had a full closure a while back, and then two Monday’s in a row we were on a 2-hour delay. Today we are closed again, because those silly plows couldn’t get rid of 8″ of snow in time!! SHEESH! Seriously! They should know better!
I wonder how long school would be closed in NC if they got 8″ of snow… probably 10 days. As for right now, I’m just glad I don’t have to drive through the snow (which is still falling) to get there.. and can go back to sleep (if I can stop writing to you right here… maybe I should.. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz….
My morning commute was really wacky last week, with the first day being a very long, slow, and snow-filled drive.. and then the last day looked like this:

I-89S near Springfield, NH (Mt. Kearsarge on the left)
Pic quality sucks, but it’s a POS camera phone.. maybe I’ll leave the digital camera in the car from now on..
Got a healthy dose of snow thanks to this Nor’easter (yes, it is now being called a nor’easter.. now that I know what the “definition” of that actually is, it kinda-sorta makes sense).. I forgot how much it sucks to shovel the driveway!
I’ve been working on getting a more “me” skin/theme to my blog for some time — so in the mean time, I’m tired of the crappy ones I put in to fill the void… so I’m going all plain until I wrap up my new design. Gorgeous, isn’t it?
